			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On April 5th, Dr. Carlo Filippini, Professor of Economics, Bocconi University, visited EUSI, accompanied by Dr. Yoshinori Shimizu, Professor Emeritus, Hitotsubashi University.</p>
<p>Professor Filippini discussd for more than one and half hour on various issues, including the prospects of the European Finacial Crisis, the economic and political situation of Italy and other European countries, the recent trend of EU studies in Asia etc.</p>
<p>Professor Filippini is the well-known authority of Asian Economic Studies in Europe. This time was the very good occasion to give the precious implication on the research activities of EUSI.</p>

<p>The EU Studies Institute in Tokyo (EUSI: organized by Hitotsubashi University, Keio University and Tsuda College) and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven will hold the summer school, in collaboration with Seoul National University.<br />
In 2009, the summer school was held in Pompeu Fabra University, Spain and Seoul National University, Korea, in 2010, it was held in Hitotsubashi University, Japan and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, in 2011, it was held in Seoul National University, Korea and Sciences Po, Paris.<br />
In 2012, participants of each 10 students from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, EUSI and Seoul National University will be expected.<br />

		<description><![CDATA[EUSI Scholarship 2012]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>EUSI (EU Studies Institute in Tokyo) Scholarship has been set up for postgraduate students involving in the EU related studies who are enrolled at the EUSI member universities, Hitotsubashi University, Keio University and Tsuda College, to have opportunities to go to Europe and enhance their understanding of the EU through the research activities in Europe.</p>
<p>The 2012 EUSI scholarship guidelines for applicants are mentioned below.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #1e337e;">The 2012 EUSI Scholarship Guidelines for Applicants</span></strong><br />
EUSI (EU Studies Institute in Tokyo) offers scholarship to postgraduate students who wish to go to Europe aiming to carry out the research on EU related studies. Please apply for the scholarship in accordance with the guidelines below.</p>

<td style="width: 150px;">1. Targeted Students:</td>
<td>Postgraduate students involved in the research on EU related studies who are enrolled at Hitotsubashi University, Keio University and Tsuda College that constitute EUSI (except international students), including those who have finished their courses.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>2. Number of Grantees:</td>
<td>Three students for this academic year</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>3. Location of Host Research Institutes:</td>
<td>Universities, education and research institutes of universities, EU institutions and the like in the EU member states.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>4. Amount of Scholarship:</td>
<td>The maximum limit 800,000 yen per student (roundtrip travel airfare and fixed daily allowances)</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>5. Duration:</td>
<td>A period necessary for his or her research between 1st August 2012 and 31st January 2013</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>6. Application Form:</td>
<td>1) Application Form:  An original piece with three copies (the prescribed form).  You must download the form, fill it out with the application details and submit it.<br />
2) Curriculum Vitae:  Within two pages in A-4 size (any form)<br />
3) Research Plan at Host Institutions:  Two pages in A-4 size (any form).  You must edit your research plan and make following points clear:<br />
- The purpose of overseas travel<br />
- The reason you choose the host institutes<br />
- Information on host research institutes<br />
4) Itinerary:  One page in A-4 size (any form)<br />
5) Recommendation:  Recommendation must be written by the present instructor of applicant regarding research capability and proficiency in English (any form).<br />
6) Expenditure Plan:  One page in A-4 size (any form).

<td>7. Period for Application:</td>
<td>Friday, 6th April, 2012 – Friday, 27th April, 2012</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>8. Period for Screening:</td>
<td>Tuesday, 1st May, 2012 – Friday, 11th May, 2012, and the date of the interview will be notified to the nominees.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>9. Screening:</td>
<td>Each university will nominate one student based on application documents and interviews, and then the members of the EUSI Working Group in charge of EUSI Scholarship will screen them.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>10. Screening Results:</td>
<td>Friday, 18th May, 2012, results will be sent directly to the applicants for scholarship.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>11. Report after dispatch period:</td>
<td>Each grantee must submit a report on research activities at EU related Institute in Europe and necessary documents to each university where he or she is enrolled within one month after his or her dispatch period.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>12. Notes:</td>
<td>The accidents, diseases and others during the grantee&#8217;s stay in Europe under the EUSI scholarship would be due to his or her own responsibility, of which expenses must be paid by him or her self. He or she must buy the Overseas Travel Accident Insurance on his or her own expenses.</td>
