EUSI is a centre for academic education and research, and outreach activities on the EU related issues in Japan



The EU Studies Institute in Tokyo (EUSI) held the Opening Ceremony, International Symposium and the Reception was held at Mita Campus, Keio University on Friday, 22nd of May. The approximately 200 guests has participated in the whole program from each field from the Government, Business and Academy.
At the Ceremony, Ambassador Hugh Richardson, Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Japan and Director General of Ministry of Education, culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) gave their speeches to celebrate and encourage the launching of the EUSI. As for the International Symposium, H.E. Mr. Kazuo Asakai, the former Ambassador of Japan to the European Union made his lecture on “For what purpose is the EU research in Japan? ” and Prof. Emil J. Kirchner, Jean Monnet Chair ad personam, Department of Government and Coordinator of the Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence, University of Essex, gave his lecture on “The Study of European Integration: Reflections and Outlook”.
At the welcome reception, Mr. Stefan Alois Huber, Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Head of Delegation gave his remarks and Mr. Gren S. Fukushima, President& CEO made his speech and a toast.
